Ramadhan yang berlalu...
|
|
I've been stacking up a lot of photos in my hard drive lately on numerous events that were covered in the holy month of Ramadhan. So before the Raya and more of my hard disk space diminishes, I thought of publishing these photos just for the sake of updating.
Iftar at the hostel musolla is a long-held tradition which involved all Muslims residing in the building regardless of nationalities, though Malaysians have emerged as the majority since the last 3-4 years, outnumbering the Indians. Others include Nigerians, Russians and the Arabs. You could almost discern the gradual transformation of the types of dish cooked as the years pass by, from Indian to Malay-esque.
I mentioned in my last entry that the last iftar event held at the embassy failed to attract people coming but The Kelab UMNO Moscow Iftar this year was a hit among the students. Few complained that the food wasn't enough and many left before performing the tarawekh because they thought the prayer would be done in two batches like the packed Maghrib congregation few hours prior to that. The Club even prepared a survival guide for the newly arrived freshmen.
Budak2 1st year mendengar bende2 yang diucapkan oleh Awe n Idham. Yang tua2 bangka pun nak join jugak. Hehe.
This one familiar face on TV3 was also there during the iftar. Nizal ke hape tah name dia.
The Makciks at the embassy. One of them actually brought some cucur udang from home intended to be served as moreh. Tapi piranha2 kat dapur dah bedal sampai abes 5 minutes lepas berbuka lagi. (saya sekali la tuh, tapi cucur udangnya memang top class!)
Penat buat keje, saya kelihatan seperti pekerja warung. Sama la budak2 yg lain pun.
The 2 weeks long Therapy cycle drained the juices out of us. Sampaikan nak buat iftar kelas pun tak sempat. So we did one well after we started the Traumatology cycle which is less hectic and demanding than the previous one. Battery kamera kong awal, so I got less pics publish-able.
The girls from my group, plus a few other invites. Not pictured here is Aimi Liyana.
SO long Ramadhan. Till we meet again next year. Kalau panjang umur, Insya-Allah.

Iftar Ramadham 2007
|
|
Lepas Kremlin, I went straight to the embassy for Majlis Berbuka Puasa.Turned out very very very few people came and even fewer that stayed until Tarawikh.
Giler arr, makan free pun tanak.
So in the end those who stayed murah rezeki la for the makciks at embassy were busy distributing small plactic packets to tapau the food home. Good stuff for sahur ehh?
Only that I munched away the kueh2 before I slept while scrutinizing my captures of the day and did not wake up for sahur at all. Tired. Exhausted. Fatigued. Jaded.
Anyway the kids at the embassy were really feisty and playful.
And this got to be one of the sweetest portrait of kids I ever got albeit the dim ambient light. Err, sweetness excludes reza, awe and raimi though.
The girl with big eyes and reza.
Miskin giler to hail a cab for a ride home so we just waited for the bus. Sigh.

Kremlin Shootaway
|
|
I've been agitating to go to Kremlin since I got back to Moscow. Then the day was fairly sunny and I thought it's such a good day to be wasted. After all it's September and it's been wet for the past week. So I asked Alep, Idham and Ijat Sabri to join.
So here's a bit of the famous Kremlin.
It's even a popular spot for wedding photography.
Baby marry me at the lollipop.
And then there was an army band playing some music for the open dance floor. A few of the elderly danced.
This pakcik looks a bit like Fidel Castro.
A lesbian love?
And ooh baby how I love to convert a cityscape with tall shadows innit into a black and white.
Ijat from M1.
Idham. The one with gazillions-dollars worth of equipment vis-a-vis me with petite little 50 1.8 that only slightly mitigates the suxiness of my kit lens.
And nope, we're not resting. All were pure action of acting for another photo capture.
It was a battle between arch-rival Nikon and Canon. And in the end with total bias and prejudice I'd exclaim that Canon won hands down. huhu.

Home At Night
|
|
There was like an avalanche of homeworks when my groupmates and I finally met our Neurology teacher. Last week was all serene and peaceful and suddenly all I know is I'm awake at 1.00 am to finish a patient's report to be handed the next morning. Being lonely at night reminds me of home coz that was pretty much the state of my existence for the last 2 months.
So here's a shot taken at the Danga Bay. Little boy in yellow is my brother and the other 3 persons near him are the remaining members of my family. (Not that they died in a catastrophe or anything, my other siblings are away coz living with my parents post-15 is not an option)
Bored to death, I arranged these little porcelain doll and whatever crystal goblets my emak has to exhibit, playing little girl with her doll-house. Only to be awakened the next afternoon with my emak's nagging to the state of anarchy I had just created on the previous night.
It was near Maghrib and Mari Belajar baca Quran was playing on TV. My little brother could not care less to whatever photography undertaking his bro's up to. On other occassion he would be tugging me and playing all cheeky to get his way into my next photo collection. yeah, vanity runs in the family.
To say that this is a night shot is an understatement. More like a near-subuh shot.
Heh, and who am I without a little dose of vanity.

Macro For The Unfortunates
|
|
I actually needed to study some cancer-serious neurology shit last night, but couldn't resist to try this macro-for-the-poor thingy that a friend introduced. It pushed the nimbleness of my hand to the extreme and in the end my right hand was tender with pain.
Anyway it's only the fourth day of school, so it's no cancer yet, so yes i'm exaggerating.
I thought of giving some boost to Stabilo's dwindling sale in South-East Asia. Heh. The harsh shadow was due to only one source of lighting and that was my study lamp. I was scared shit that I would wake up my roomate to the shutter sound, so to mitigate the annoyance that he might suffer I used only one source of light-lah
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's my germ-infested mouse roller. Thought of giving this macro take a go for its (kononnya) ethereal-ambiguous-hard-to-guess quality. I know the exposure is totally off and again due to my virtuous sensitivity that no one should have no reason to wake up to the uninspiring light used by his roomate to satiate his nocturnal habits.
And by the way, a little of unworthy credit goes to Mr Ahmad Kamal from Germany if anything bad at school happens as a consequence of his bad influence on me.

Langkawi for the proud arse of us
|
|
The recent summer break in Malaysia is not what I'd call a time well spent.
I was just slouching around at home doing practically nothing so I believe that has made my trip to Langkawi the hallmark of 2 months wasted.
I guess the trip would have presented me with fantastic photo opportunities dang on a sliver platter but due to lackluster planning we spent more time talking to our juniors at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Bitara Langkawi. (damn, couldn't resist to name it in its full glorious form, what a school).
So here we were at the Dewan Kuliah. It was prettier than what I remembered.
Che Nab and Durar. This entry was edited on a special request by this one lucky mak incik.
Because we were too self-indulgent to stop our babbling hence the talking continued in Dataran Hijau. Here's a candid of Che'gu Hariza (yang awet muda remaja kanak2) probably texting her boyfriend.
In the end we still managed to stay one more day for a some mere sight-seeing, and that was after a fateful divine intervention in a form of bad weather which stopped some of ours initial plan of riding ferry back home. So in way that explains the overcast sky.
So our first stop was Pantai Pasir Tengkorak and Tanjung Rhu. I don't remember which one was first but it was loong since the last time I saw any beach.
Nas who thought the sight of his perineum fascinates ladies. Hampeh.
Rizal yg macam hampeh tapi kurang la sikit dari Nas.
Afiq Fikri yang aku tak berani nak cakap kata dia hampeh. Huahha.
These people were overwhelmed and a bit intimidated at the sight of my camera. So their portraits were the ones that turned out better since I am the one who could muster the most expertise out of whatever feeble skills I had just acquired.
A sense of pride permeate every fiber of my being as I boasted to these photography-dummies that my camera could actually fire 3 frame per second, which was actually the lowest rate of fps found only in entry-level DSLRs. Hehe. Snotty moron that's me.
We were half-expecting Ayu Betta to get into her bikinis as she had promised earlier. Turned out she was all Ayu and Sopan the whole day, befitting her ill-deserved name. Huhahaha. (Ye la2, hang tetap ayu kot mana pun)
It was a rather gloomy day for it's been raining for quite some days then. So we went to Air Terjun Temurun which was infamous among the students as Air Terjun that is always dry. A lot of ex-Langkawi would have sweared that they never ever got a chance to witness water falling down at Temurun so I guess we were lucky to see this near-miraculous phenomenon.
There are actually more photos but I think they serve better as some good tokens of memories than something to parade around.
So kepada Rashdan, Nabz, Shamera, Alfa, Moke, Cerap dan yang lain2, maaf gambo2 anda tdk dipaparkan but u guys mite as well ask them from me if u so wish to keep them.[img]

So I think I need to start somewhere
|
|
So this is my post numero uno.
I've been thinking about joining fotopages for a few months now and only now that I have procured my-oh-beloved DSLR and super speedy internet connection that uploading photos will not be an event of sulkiness and irritation.
So i guess it's only apt if I just post the better ones of my very recent landscape shots (which in my opinion the composition is a bit off), definitely not something that screams NARCISSISM or OBSCENE, though quite frankly I adore those types of photography.
I thought this is the best of the bunch. Exposure and color were spot-on.
(I know I already sound self-indulgent)
I think I could have moved a little bit closer just to get extra details on the bee but I was scared shit the bee would sting.
Totally pp-ed. In case u wonder.
I'm aspiring to be a good amateur and trying to learn as much as I can.
Enjoy some bashing if u will.
